Sunset Resort
Sunset Resort is absolute beach-front, located on the western coast, nestled among coconut palms, with white sandy beaches and lush tropical gardens - we are only six kilometres (3.7 miles) from Avarua township in Rarotonga.
With spacious, self-catering studios and suites which boast a beachfront location, overlook our lush tropical gardens or one of the two outdoor salt water swimming pools, all suites feature a well-equipped kitchen, private patio or balcony with outdoor furniture, and are air conditioned and insect screened for your comfort. Two of our suites offer access facilities (wheelchair/walking frame) and there is easy access to all onsite facilities.
The Birdcage Bar is located by one of our swimming pools, opening mid-afternoon to early evening daily - it offers a range of beverages that can be enjoyed poolside or at the beach for your enjoyment.
Our on site Anchorage Bar and Restaurant is open all day and offers a tropical breakfast (complimentary) or a cooked breakfast ordered off the menu. An la carte menu or buffet is offered for lunch and dinner. All dietary needs are catered for with a variety of choices for vegans/vegetarians/gluten free. Authentic island entertainment is offered some nights with Sunday evening being Roast Night!
Sunset Resort is situated approximately four kilometers (2.5 miles) from Rarotonga Airport. An airport shuttle can be arranged upon request (fee applies) - we offer free onsite parking.
Complimentary transfers to Saturday Punangi Nui Market is offered most Saturday mornings and also to Sunday morning Church services.
Breakfast
A complimentary daily tropical breakfast is available at our onsite restaurant - Anchorage Restaurant and Bar. We serve a range of cereals (some gluten free options), breads, spreads, seasonal fruits, homemade yoghurt, juice, filtered water and selection of home made teas and freshly brewed filter coffee.
Breakfast is served from 7.30am to 10.00am
The Birdcage Bar
The Birdcage Bar is open daily from mid afternoon to early evening.

This is a great opportunity to get together with friends, or meet new friends after the day's activity and enjoy delicious cocktails along with non-alcoholic beverages, beers, wines and spirits at happy hour prices. Enjoy your refreshing drink in the swimming pool, at the bar or take it to the beach to relax and enjoy some of Rarotonga's best sunsets.
Water Activities
Swim and snorkel directly off our beach and check out our amazing clear turquoise lagoon teeming with different marine life.
Beach towels are provided in your room and can be exchanged as needed at the reception area.
We advise our guests to bring their own snorkelling equipment - with the advent of COVID and the potential risk we do not supply snorkelling equipment.
Airport Transfers
Sunset Resort offers a 24 hour airport transfer service (airport/hotel/airport) for international and domestic flights at a cost of $15 per person one way (ie $30 return).
Transfers with our Sunset Resort airport transfer service is mandatory for all our guests arriving on flights into Rarotonga after 4:00pm and before 8.00am.
Our office is not open 24 hours and our transfer driver will complete check in formalities.
