Environmentally friendly resort:
A great deal of consideration, time and money has been expended to ensure that Sunset Resort is actively assisting the minimisation of waste and natural resources on the island. Such initiatives assist in preserving our island paradise for all to enjoy. |
Temperature Control:
A unique building technique called ‘Thermomass’ construction was used in the building process. This insulation system aids in keeping the rooms at a constant temperature for long periods of time and is very energy efficient. |
Solar power:
Our hot water supply is heated from solar panels erected on the roof and supplies each block of rooms individually. |
Environmental waste water treatment:
All waste water runs through the onsite waste water system of holding tanks and UV light until it is safe to recycle back onto the garden areas for irrigation. |
Catchment of rain water:
The rain water is collected off the extensive roof area and contained in large holding tanks for the resort’s use. This enables the resort to be self sufficient and does not rely on the limited town supply. |
Recycling:
The resort encourages our guests to reuse their bath towels where possible to conserve water and to use the recycle bins provided in each room. We also support local action for the environment by sorting cardboard, plastic, cans and glass for collection. All our garden green waste is taken away for composting and our restaurant waste is recycled to pig farms. |
Filtration of drinking water supply:
For our guests convenience all water on the resort runs through a complex filtration system several times and finally through UV light making all water safe to drink. |
